Christmas started with Bailey's usual early morning wake up call. Lucky for us she runs straight to our room and this morning was no different. It was super fun trying to occupy her in our room while we waited for Hazel to wake up. With Bailey's loud voice, however, it wasn't long before the girls were up and we were ready to investigate what Santa brought us.
First on the agenda was reading Santa's special note and seeing his half eaten cookies.
Then it was time to check out all the fun things in our stockings.
Hazel has never had sixlets before, but between the color, shape, packaging and her sixth sense she knew it was candy and she had a death grip on that candy cane. She also realized fairly quickly that Sam was super jealous that Hazel got sixlets and he got skittles so she knew to keep an eye on him.
Bailey was overjoyed with her mike n ikes and snowman pez. She too can sense candy from a mile away.
There has also been a little love affair with Mickey and Minnie Mouse in the Braden home; so the little bath time squirters and band aids were also a huge hit. They got little loofas for bath time and new toothbrushes and toothpaste because we go through those things like candy (because way too many times I catch them brushing things like the walls and the toilet etc and it makes me want to vomit).
The girls got matching magic wands complete with a special magical fairy tune. It happens to be loud. I was a fan of them until about a week or so after Christmas Hazel decided to throw hers away (along with every other toy and object in this house). It was fished out and thrown into the sink for some sanitation where it became water damaged and proceeded to periodically sing this magic fairy tune all night long. Sam had taken some cold medicine that night for his gross cough which left lazy me listening to it all night and just about ready to kill someone. Too bad being half asleep ruins any good judgement of getting up and chucking the object outside into the snow pile. I'm so glad I saved it from the trash for a few hours that evening.
Then it was on to investigate the contents of Mom & Dad's stockings. Yummy smelling soaps from bath&body, protein shakes, hot chocolate mugs and the good hot chocolate.
We do occasionally wipe the snot from our children's noses, but not on Christmas. They got so many presents and treats we didn't want to completely spoil them.
We probably could have stopped the day right there and she would have been perfectly content.
Also, my little sister Rachel got Sam addicted to those watermelon sour patch kids. He loves them. He loves them so much that he bought a package and put them in his own stocking for himself. He said he bought them to put in mine, but decided last minute to just put them in his since he knew he was going to eat them all anyway and he didn't want to be accused once again of buying me a gift that he wanted. I'm still unsure what to think about this.
Then, while the little girls checked out their new kitchen I went to work in my kitchen to make some yummy breakfast.
Washing her hands before she starts cooking. What a good little chef. I have taught her well.
Bailey was much to busy to be bothered with such tasks as eating so we ate without her. Pancakes, eggs, hash browns and ham. Yum Yum.
Not impressed with Dad's nose wiping tactics.
After breakfast we returned to the Christmas tree to unwrap the rest of the gifts.
Mr. Potato head...
and the love of his life, Mrs. Potato head.
Reunited at last.
Puzzles...
and of course putting forks in toasters and microwaves.
Sam got his very own set of pillows. No more complaining that I steal all the pillows and he only gets the thin old ones.
We had such a fun day with our little family.
