Rex Rex Rex. He loves my Mom and Dad more than anything. He was so sad when he saw everyone pile into the car to head to the airport and only Sam returned. He moped around the rest of the day and night and then at 6 am he came running into the room wanting to go on a walk.
So the whole 10 days my parent's were gone Bailey and Rex got 2 walks a day. We still aren't sure exactly who walked who but it was amazing to see Bailey's fear of dogs slowly fade away. Bailey's run and Rex's trot were perfectly aligned and the two would trek out on their own almost the entire way. Their first go at it I kept thinking Bailey was going to drop dead of heat exhaustion because she ran about a mile before we finally forced her to stop, take a drink and sit in the stroller. After taking the leash out of her hands you would have thought we took her last candy bar away.
It was hilarious to watch Rex stop to sniff a mailbox and then Bailey tug on the leash to force him along. Then Bails would stop to watch some kids run by and Rex would pull her along. The only bad news was when Rex would find a rabbit, lizard or another dog. Then he would charge and Bails would hold tight to the leash and get dragged along usually resulting in a skinned knee or elbow. By the end of the trip Sam had a pretty good mental note of the common locations of lizards, rabbits and the houses that had barking dogs so he would manage to grab Bailey's arm and then she would go airborne between the leash and Sam; quick acting Daddy.
Of course Hazel would spend every walk just looking around like her usual angel self.
