We signed Bails up for a two week swim lessons at the rec center by our house. She is still not swimming or dunking her head in the water, but she did have the time of her life. She is also a pro at blowing bubbles and allowing people to float her around. She has never been scared of the water, but I think she is a lot more confident in herself and Sam and I aren't as terrified of her drowning.
She basically had a permanent smile on her face the entire 30 minute lesson. She was always the first one to jump up and say it was her turn when they played games, floated around the pool, or jumped off the side of the pool to her teacher.
She was also constantly looking over to the side at Hazel and I with a big smile and a wave.
She would get out of the pool every day and run to me and tell me all about the games they played.
"Ring around the Rosie
Power to the Rose
Ashes Ashes we all blow bubbles" -her interpretation of the song
or "Fishy in the basket, Fishy in the basket
can't go over, gotta swim under"
and "crocodile crocodile what time is it"
Her turn for fishy in the basket. She would always raise both hands in the air, wiggle her fingers and shout my turn, my turn! Being the only girl in her class probably worked to her advantage a little bit.
I felt bad that I hadn't looked into it more earlier so she could have moved up more levels by the end of this summer. I also realized how exhausting it was getting the 3 of us out to the pool for a half hour every day for two weeks and most of me was happy when the 2 weeks finally ended; being a taxi driver mommy is more tiring than I thought.
