The wedding day started super early. Like before our alarm clocks went off early because two little girls decided it would be a great idea to wake up at 5 am. And since we were all sharing one hotel room it basically ensured us a nice breakfast, plenty of time to get ready and check out, and a very punctual parking spot at the hotel.
Rachel got babysitting duty which I am pretty sure mostly involved playing in the car and not changing Hazel's horrific diaper. Luckily for them (and their noses) the ceremony was short, sweet, and beautiful. Then we were back out on the temple grounds to roam around, explore, and take pictures before the couple came out to join us.
Bailey was more than happy to pose in front of any camera she could. She was absolutely obsessed with her princess dress and could be caught twirling and dancing in it almost every second.
Hazel was just happy to be free to explore as she wished.
It of course would not be a complete play time on the grass if we didn't enjoy a little bit of ring around the rosie...
All of the ladies present for the day. We sure missed you Janet.
This little patio area was basically Bailey's stage for the hour. Dana taught her how to twirl and curtsy and pretend to be a ballerina.
A family shot.
And of course since the visitors center was so spectacular we decided to grab a shot of the family in front of/inside/and all around.
It was around this point the 5 am wake up call started to claim their victims.
We were back in the car and after about 30 seconds worth of driving out of the parking lot both kids were out like a light. They slept through the pizza luncheon and for a solid portion of the 3 hour drive home. That is until we hit major rush hour traffic that left us scrambling from freeway to freeway to bypass it. We have been the first ones to leave, but we were not the first ones to arrive home.
The winding roads back up the canyon from the PCH left bails with quite a bit fewer calories than she started the drive with. Unfortunately the dress was a major casualty in the barf war. Luckily Sam was there to do a lot of the major cleaning because my constant gagging as I attempted to go near anything stinky was less than helpful.
As soon as we arrived back to Papa & Honey's house she was back to her normal ole self. She went up on the hill with Daddy to pick a bunch of oranges and was basically running around like a crazy person until it was time to head up to the church for the open house.
Don't let that cute little face fool you. This kid would not have anything to do with dinner/healthy food/anything slightly nutritious. As soon as we walked into the cultural hall and she saw the table full of cake/candy/dessert she refused even her precious fruit until some nice aunt/uncle/friend came along to sneak her treats. She definitely puts Bails to shame in the sweets department.
We did manage to salvage Bailey's dress for the evening. A quick hand wash in the sick and low heat spin in the dryer and it even smelled like nothing had happened to it.
They ran/played/explored every inch of the giant building that they could. They even ventured up to the nursery for awhile with all of Aleesha's nieces and nephews.
We (and by we I mean Bailey) found some scriptures so she decided to sit down and read for awhile. She became absolutely elated when she found a little ticket inside the scripture and begged me to read it to her. The exciting message was actually a ticket for the book to be returned to the library...someone is in trouble.
Then before we knew it it was out to the parking lot to decorate/destroy Robby's car. A box of Oreo's, gummy worms, whipped cream, etc later it was all ready to go.
Robby was less than thrilled. He removed the cans, ate a few of the licked gummy worms off the car (disgusting) and then proceeded to drive to a car wash to get the oreo's and everything off so it wouldn't ruin his paint. Party Pooper.
I am pretty sure Bails thought she was going with them. The tears that ensued after they drove off and left her behind were anything but fake.
And finally on the ride home from the church (we ditched the clean up party a little bit early to put the kids to bed) we convinced the little sugar addict to eat something healthy...only the best sandwich in the world. Too bad after 2 little hummingbird bites she literally fell asleep mid chew.
Here's to hoping a full evening of sugar wont kill you. It was a fabulous and exhausting day and we loved every second of it. Congratulations Robby and Aleesha.
